Tallow & Ash Laundry Shampoo & Conditioner

I have no idea what cotton smells like… and I don’t want to know.

One of the new products I am living for at the moment is Tallow & Ash Laundry Detergents & Shampoo. I am mainly banned from doing laundry in my house, much to the account of the rife ADHD and forgetting to take the aforementioned laundry out of the machine. My way of contributing, however, has been to find the gem that is Tallow & Ash. They make refillable, planet friendly and on-toxic laundry detergents with delightful, defined smells. Buying fragrances is a joyous pastime for me and my partner, and we’re quite fussy with that we put on ourselves, but from what I have smelled so far these are miles above any laundry detergent I’ve sampled so far. For full disclosure, I have only tried the Odyssey scent, as it has many similar notes (Bergamot, Grapefruit, Cedarwood and Sandalwood) of some of my favourite aftershaves. Whilst you can definitely smell the scent on the clothes post washing, it’s not extremely overpowering, but I think this is deliberate on their part.

There only seem to be two aimed scents explicitly towards men, the other being Oud (which, much to my boyfriends dismay, is not something I will be allowing into my washing). The others lean more towards traditional feminine scents, which could be an issue for straight couples ‘load sharing’ (I couldn’t think of a way to say this in a non-sexual way, so apologies), but there are some like ‘Duvet Day’ which seem to be gender neutral.

I’ve tried plenty of eco alternatives to larger brands, including Smol, Ecoeggs & Greensheets, but I must say this smells and looks the most visually appealing. The design is classic Helvetica-chic, and it really feels like a luxury product. A great way to make your washing just that tad more appealing.
