The Waterman’s Arms

375 Lonsdale Rd, barnes, London, SW13 9PY / watermansarms.co.uk

A glorious setting, incredible British produce & an atmosphere so cosy and relaxed that you could be in your living room.

On a glorious Sunday in April, I made the pilgrimage to Barnes and had one of the most amazing lunches I’ve had this year. The Watermans’ Arms in Barnes is set in a prime thames-side location, especially sitting upstairs watching the setting sun reflect on the river. The head chef (Sam Andrews) is formerly of the Camberwell Arms, so you know the food is going to slap. It serves refined pub classics and seasonal dishes, with market fish and incredible meat, but somehow manages to not be twatty, despite serving a ‘Tokyo Turnip’ As Gordon Ramsey says in every single episode of Kitchen Nightmares ever made, it’s “local ingredients cooked simply”. Side note, I also need to find out the name of the olive oil they use because I would quite happily just drink a bowl of it.

Do yourself a favour, go on a Sunday when you have absolutely no other plans and watch the day draw to a close with multiple bottles of red.
